Mansa Church of Christ
What to expect.
We seek to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We come to worship God with joy and thankfulness for all that God has done for us. Our desire is to be pleasing to God by following the divine pattern for acceptable worship unto the Father.
In the New Testament, Christians met upon the first day of the week – Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2. Following that scriptural pattern, we also meet upon the first day of every week.
-
Every Lord’s day, we come together to study the scriptures and to preach the whole council of God – 2 Timothy 4:2-4. You can expect to hear only biblical lessons. There will be no political speeches or pleas for money from our visitors. Our focus is solely on studying and preaching the word of God.
-
The music that we offer unto God is from the heart – Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16. No instruments are used in our assembly. We sing praise and thanksgiving to God by blending our hearts and voice together in song. We honor God according to His will and edify one another as we offer the sacrifice of praise by the fruit of our lips – Hebrews 13:15.
-
Early Christians devoted themselves to prayer – Acts 2:42; Acts 4:24-31; Acts 12:12. In our worship, we also offer prayers to God. We acknowledge Him as our Father – Matthew 6:9, give thanks for the many good gifts He provides -James 1:17, ask Him for strength to withstand temptations – Matthew 6:13 and petition Him for blessings upon those for whom we have the duty to pray – 1 Timothy 2:1-2.
-
Every Sunday we partake of the Lord’s Supper which is a memorial established by Christ – Matthew 26:26-29. To Christians, the unleavened bread and fruit of the vine represent the body and blood of Christ as he willingly died for our sins on the cross. It is a time of reflection and gratitude to God, who sent His only son to die on our behalf – 1 Corinthians 11:24-25.
-
As we assemble together on the first day of the week, we fulfill Christ’s commandment to give of our means with which God has so richly blest us – 1 Corinthians 16:2. With cheerful and joyful hearts – 2 Corinthians 9:7-this collection is taken for the purpose of carrying out the work of the local church and other evangelism efforts. Visitors are never expected nor requested to contribute.
We meet on Wednesday evenings to sing praises to the Lord, pray for one another and study together from the Bible. It is a time to be edified and renew our minds as we meet together with fellow Christians.
You are welcome to worship with us at any time. You will be our honored guest.
